I had a very in-depth discussion before with an academic who was studying the benefits of psychedelics as treatment for those with mental health issues. Who has tried experimental drugs and what kind of experiences did you feel?
I am really curious to hear what others have to say, as I do not have recent experience with psychedelics, but what I can comment on is how much the legalization of Cannabis and various products has helped my mental health. For the onset of anxiety that the pandemic, and various others life challenges brought the last 3 years, spending time researching and learning about the benefits has been so beneficial to me. There has always been a stigma around things like Cannabis, mushrooms, LSD, etc. In the past, I had not enjoyed my experiences with Cannabis much, but after learning and talking to people, I now include a CBD/THC vape pen, and gummy edibles to my self care regime as needed. I drink less, feel better, sleep better, and manage mental health better, with no awful side effects. In the past I have tried things like MDMA in my 20’s, and personally, it was a very positive experience for me, and got me out of my shell, and comfortable to embrace the weird things about me that I now love. I actually think that a lot of those experiences, the friends I made during that time, and being able to let go and not be such a control freak was a good thing for me personally. As I showed more of myself, and saw that people liked the things that I thought were less appealing about me, it created a foundation for me to be unapologetically me. I have to say, it was the PEOPLE who really lifted me up, not the drugs, so I kept the people close and chose not to do any more psychedelics once in my 30’s. I know many people who seem to really benefit from Micro-dosing so I am interested, has anyone else tried it to manage anxiety, ADHD, etc? I’m asking for a friend…ish
I’m so interested to learn more about this. Especially mushrooms as well as ketamine being used for chronic depression.
ayahuasca is all the rage where I live (Mexico), I’m curious to try it with my husband, but also honestly scared - like if it makes me super truthful, what if I share something that I don’t want to that could impact our relationship? We have a very honest relationship, but there are some parts of my life pre-him that I want to keep my own. I’ve just heard that people, couples who do it together, some strange things can come out.
I’ve never done more than smoked weed, and I am pretty sure I did it wrong. Still - I am curious about psychedelics as I’ve been on every anti depressant under the sun, and have managed my anxiety etc through cognitive behavioral therapy, but I am curious.
Interesting never heard of ayahuasca will have to look that one up!
I’m as HUGE fan of psychadelic therapy. I have done Ayahuasca and MDMA assisted therapy. They were absolutely, 100%, complete life chnaging and life altering. Literally not only bypassed years of therapy but reached a place that talk therapy just could never reach. These therapies cross that barrier in your subconscious mind and allow you to heal in a way that you never could with that wall up. There is a reason why your subconscious mind creates barriers to your past memories and trauma, it’s to protect you, but it also means that you can’t heal unless you access these. There is an incredible book called A Dose Of HOpe by Dr. Dan Engle. it goes through the details on what psychedelic therapy is and how it scientifically works. It is an amazing and fascinating book and I can attest that that is exactly how it works. of course, a lot of caution must be taken to find the best providers as these powers can be abused. Also, integration is of upmost importance. Doing the ceremonies and therapies without integration can not only make it not work but it can be harmful because you’re accessing and healing deep subconscious and it leaves you very vulnerable. They say not to make any important life decisions for 6 weeks afterward, and I see why. I’d be happy to download with anyone interested.
Very interesting information! I haven’t done mushrooms in about 5 yrs and it was probably a dozen before that. I make sure I’m in comfortable/safe place with ppl I know when I’ve taken them and I have had a great time. I take marijuana edibles often as it helps me unwind after a long week plus I find i can really enjoy sex a lot more if I’m not stressed/overthinking.
I haven’t heard of Ayahuasca before so I’ll definitely check it out.
Thanks for the book recommendation! Definitely putting that on the to-read list. Good to know about the therapies and ceremonies given the impact of the psychadelics can be so powerful and without guidance could lead to some uncontrollable outcomes.
Just saw these goodies - CBD bath bombs! Sounds relaxing and apparently good for the skin too
